Her first book, Back on Track: How To Straighten Out Your Life When It Throws You A Curve, is a motivational self-help book which draws upon her experiences at NBC's Today Show. I Don't Want To Sleep Tonight offers children and their parents suggestions to keep frightening dreams away. It became one of Golden Books’ strongest sellers. I Can Fly followed with advice on building children's self esteem. Her latest effort is, Thank You Power: Making the SCIENCE of Gratitude Work for YOU. In it, Norville shares the findings of years of research conducted on the quantifiable benefits of living a grateful life. Offering exercises for harnessing “Thank You Power” and stories of individuals who’ve employed it, she also details the specifics of why Thank You Power works. While the notion of being thankful may seem obvious, scientists are actually proving the impact that gratitude can play in one’s physical and emotional health. Norville points to several comprehensive studies around the country that show how people who focus on being grateful or who are made to feel appreciated, even in small ways, become more positive, work harder, and have more energy. Norville was presented a Gracie Award from American Women in Radio and Television and recognized by the National Women's Political Caucus for her reporting from the "toughest jail in America." Norville spent time as an inmate at the Davidson County, NC Jail to show first-hand what conditions were like behind bars. Following the terror attack of September 11, 2001, she took viewers aboard an F-16 with the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard. Norville was also the host of Deborah Norville TONIGHT on the MSNBC Cable network, a nightly interview program with the people and issues making the day's headlines. Norville joined INSIDE EDITION, from CBS News, where she anchored America Tonight and reported for 48 Hours, Street Stories and CBS Evening News.
