During his 30-years-long career, Blair Underwood has made an art of giving it his all — and giving back. In speaking engagements centering on health awareness and physical fitness, the actor, activist and philanthropist shares his experiences as caregiver and advocate, making a case for healthy living and wellness in all aspects of life.

After watching his mother battle multiple sclerosis, diabetes and depression, he became a champion of healthy living. He is also strongly involved with activism and philanthropic causes including organizations such as AHF (AIDS Healthcare Foundation), ANSA (Artists for a New South Africa) and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, weaving together personal betterment and giving back into his inspirational presentations.

The star of television, stage, screen, co-author of five books, and two-time Golden Globe nominee and GRAMMY winner shot to stardom as Jonathan Rollins on the hit NBC TV series L.A. Law, resulting in film and stage roles including Rules of Engagement, the Broadway revival of A Streetcar Named Desire, in which he played Stanley Kowalski, and Soul of the Game, in which he played Jackie Robinson. Blair currently appears in a recurring role on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC.

  • He was outstanding and so, so nice! We had over 4,000 people crammed in there – they were hanging from the rafters. They came from everywhere. He read Martin Luther King’s MLK speech and I swear I thought it was Martin himself. He made me look good, too by mentioning how hard I had worked to get him here and I really appreciate it. I definitely want him back.
