Nicola Winter is a German rescue helicopter pilot, keynote speaker, aerospace engineer, former Air Force major, and ESA Reserve Astronaut. She was Germany’s second female fighter pilot and one of only the first three women to fly the Eurofighter. During her military career, she served as an officer in the German Air Force, flew one of the world’s most advanced fighter aircraft, and later trained student pilots in the United States, including in survival training and crisis management.
Today, Nicola works full-time as a rescue helicopter pilot, flying missions in highly dynamic, time-critical situations where calm decision-making, teamwork, and communication can make all the difference. Her professional path has taken her from supersonic jets and international military training to air rescue, engineering, consulting, and the world of human spaceflight.
In 2022, Nicola was selected as an ESA Reserve Astronaut, a milestone that reflects her lifelong commitment to exploration, excellence, and pushing boundaries. She is also the author of The Sky is No Limit and has become one of Europe’s most distinctive voices on modern leadership and performance under pressure.
