You will work closely with our sales agents, clients and our world-renowned professional speakers. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinator for high-profile clients such as Microsoft, Vanguard, Fidelity Investments, ING, Wells Fargo, KPMG, Deloitte, Kohl’s, and many other Fortune 500 Companies.
  • Support sales agents and act as their business partner to ensure an increasing number in monthly bookings and maintain excellent client relationships.
  • Review and implement contract deliverables.
  • Attend and contribute in sales, training, and business development meetings & collaborate with all departments for continual improvement.
  • Build relationships and act as liaisons to clients, host organizations, speakers, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Prepare Speakers for engagements by coordinating extensive travel and logistical arrangements.
  • Effectively use ACT to enter sales, client and speaker information for accurate tracking, reporting and follow-up
  • Possess superior knowledge of industry marketplace, trends and product knowledge
  • Develop network of industry contacts; participate in relevant professional associations

BigSpeak, a Santa Barbara-based speakers bureau representing the world’s top motivational speakers, business gurus, authors, entertainers and icons is expanding and currently seeking a seasoned professional candidate who would like to take his/her drive to succeed to the next level and apply it to a lucrative business career as our Finance Manager (Controller). This position may grow into a CFO role if you are CFO material, keep reading too. You will work closely with our C-level team and CPA for overall financial management of BigSpeak. We have doubled in size over the last 3 years and are on target to double again by 2021.

As Finance Manager you will be responsible for leading, managing, training and inspiring BigSpeak’s finance team, including direct engagement talent, F1000 client’s and our tight-knit team. Qualified candidates have experience with finance in a management role for at least five years in the corporate setting. The ideal candidate is extremely results-driven, a motivator, savvy, service oriented and a master of Quickbooks, Excel and other financial tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Guides financial decisions and protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for supporting the full cycle general ledger monthly and year end close and all related activities to ensure accounts are properly reconciled, reported and in compliance with accounting procedures.
  • Maximizes return, and limits risk, “cash management”.
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Year end financial planning for our unique requirements with a solid/accurate plan by 12/1 that is easily modified with spreadsheet and live financial reporting
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Responsible for leading, managing, and developing financial staff. Vendor management, including annual reviews,  competitive bidding processes and looking for improved services and products
  • Monitor all insurance policies, including researching alternatives, competitive quotes and market analysis

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • At least 5 years of hands-on accounting managerial experience
  • Ability to prioritize and communicate effectively
  • Committed to service with a strong sense of ownership for projects and results.

  • Quickbooks wizardry – all tools/features, including eChecks, reconciliations, interfaces with
    ADP, Vanguard, FSA, HSA, etc.
  • Excel and Google Sheets Mastery

Acting as an Agent/Consultant for business thought leaders, renowned authors and Hollywood celebrities on the lecture circuit as well as an educational consultant to corporate learning and development programs can be exciting and glamorous (think Entourage, only with less Ari, more gold and no drama) but it is also primarily a consultative sales position, and you will spend a majority of your time on the phone advising clients, cultivating relationships and closing deals. Proactive outreach in addition to occasional leads, and previous clients and prospects are provided.

Selling to corporations, including Fortune 1000 companies, trade associations and town halls, our agent/consultants are also responsible for overseeing all aspects of events, from contract to itinerary to payment. This is a base salary plus commission position and/or higher all commission compensation opportunity with very high earning potential.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years industry sales experience
  • Professional phone presence and comfort making cold calls is expected
  • Experience servicing events and customers
