Human By Design: Is Augmentation a Human Right?

The concept of human augmentation and blurring the lines between humanity and technology is being examined, and was discussed today at the Human by Design conference in New York City.  Tan Le, BigSpeak exclusive speaker, and CEO of bio-informatics company, Emotiv, was featured as one of the expert panelists to discuss this concept.   No worries if you missed the conference or the live broadcast, as you can view the recording via this link.

In addition to Tan Le, BigSpeak speaker Neil Harbisson was one of the 12 discussion panelists as well.  A British-born cyborg artist best known for curing his color-blindness by having an antenna implanted in his skull to detect colors such as infrareds and ultraviolets via sound waves, Neil is an activist for selective augmentation.  BigSpeak futurist and technology expert, Erica Orange, was also one of the participants at the conference.

If you are interested in learning more about human augmentation, be sure to watch the film on Amazon Prime.  “Human by Design” is a 30-minute film that follows 12 extraordinary people at the intersection of technology and imagination. Inspired by the futuristic themes and ethical questions contained in the video game Deus Ex: Mankind Divided®, developed by Eidos-Montréal, this real-world journey introduces the leading minds in human augmentation that are redefining what it means to be human.
