Kevin O’Leary Talks NFT’s

BigSpeak Exclusive Speaker Kevin O’Leary is no stranger to innovation. An investor on the hit show Shark Tank, O’Leary is always looking for new products to disrupt industries. He was recently featured in a Yahoo Finance article stating that the next innovation in the world of investing is non-fungible tokens (NFT’s).

Non-fungible iterates the fact that the token is unique and can’t be replaced with something else. The tokens (anything digital from images and drawings to music) are one of a kind and are a part of a blockchain like Bitcoin or Ethereum.

O’Leary argues that the digital component is what makes NFT’s so intriguing. Authenticating valuable items can often be a hassle. O’Leary says, “When people offer me vintage watches, I have to go through a very arduous authentication process to know if it’s fake or not, there’s are so many fake watches in the market. NFTs could solve all of those problems.” Because NFT’s are digitally tracked, it becomes simple to transfer ownership and determine authenticity.

He even goes as far as to say that investing in NFT’s is like investing in the early days of Amazon and Google.

In other Kevin O’Leary news, Mr. Wonderful recently had some nice words for a Tennessee USPS worker who earned $90,000 last year. After watching a recent episode of Millenial Money, O’Leary took notice of Jordan Myers. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Myers would routinely walk 20 miles a day delivering mail. Taking advantage of overtime due to staff shortages, Myers was able to make over a 100% increase of his base salary of $41,000. O’Leary said, “The pandemic caused a real breakdown in systems, particularly the mail system: Your check wouldn’t get to you, your medicine didn’t get to you…That’s a really great person that actually understands the impact on someone’s life.”

In his keynotes, O’Leary, a serial entrepreneur, preaches the importance of innovation and a strong work ethic like Myers’. He offers one-of-a-kind insights into industries about where innovation is coming from and what companies are up against. Additionally, O’Leary draws on his encyclopedic knowledge of finance, investing, and business to discuss a variety of topics. An event with Mr. Wonderful is one that employees won’t soon forget.
