ON A PERSONAL NOTE

“There’s a lot of beauty in this world, but it’s also really tough out there. While I can’t control much, I can control how I communicate with others, how I behave, and what I teach others. I can help people learn to talk about their own mental health and create space for others to do the same. That is a torch I’m proud to carry in this world.”

During her downtime, Melissa loves to travel around the world, go salsa dancing, hike with her husband and their rescue dog Lola, make tortillas from scratch, and play Bananagrams.

Way back in the day, she tried out for American Idol and The Voice. And, if you ask her nicely…she even might show you her famous Chewbacca impression.
