Despite hosting the nationally syndicated court room show Judge Alex – which boasted the highest-rated launch in 2005 since Dr. Phil in 2002 – and being named “the most trustworthy daytime TV host” in 2008, Judge Alex Ferrer claims that he is no different from anyone else. “If a little Cuban boy who was just lucky enough to get to come to this great country can step up to the plate and hit the ball, you guys can hit home runs,” he says.

In this inspirational keynote, speaker Alex Ferrer shares humorous anecdotes on his road to success as well as his secrets to getting there: education and perseverance. By believing that anything was possible and by never giving up, he reached his dreams – and you can too.

About Keynote Speaker Alex Ferrer

Former police officer, attorney, and Florida Circuit Court Judge Alex E. Ferrer hosts Judge Alex on Twentieth Television, the highly rated court room strip. In 2008, he was voted the most trustworthy face in daytime television and was featured in People magazine’s “Sexiest Men Alive” issue. Alex is the only television judge with extensive personal police, legal, and judicial experience. He presides over a wide array of cases, resolving complicated issues with his straightforward approach and cogent rulings.

Ferrer was born in Havana, Cuba and he has escaped Fidel Castro’s communist regime with his family by moving to the US. He became one of the youngest police officers in the state of Florida at 19 years old. He began his law practice in Miami focusing on civil litigation, working on hundreds of suits involving wrongful deaths, personal injuries, medical malpractice, and commercial business disputes.

Alex Ferrer was elected judge in 1995, at the age of 34, making him the youngest Circuit Court judge in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. There he served as a family and criminal division judge for ten years. During his high-profile tenure on the bench in the fourth largest court system in the country, he handled thousands of cases ranging from drug-related offenses, first-degree murders, RICO conspiracy indictments, kidnappings, and armed robberies to general financial matters, child custody and support issues, and adoption and paternity suits. Ferrer received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Miami School of Law, where he became a published member of its Law Review.

He is a member of the Florida and District of Columbia Bars. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Florida International University, teaching graduate courses in criminal law and procedure. Ferrer continues to teach media relations and closing arguments to other judges at judicial conferences held throughout the year, as well as at the New Judges College and the College of Advanced Judicial Studies. Alex has also authored a “bench book” on closing arguments that is used by judges throughout Florida. He is regularly interviewed by media to provide expert opinions on a number of legal issues.

Judge Alex Ferrer inspires audiences in his engaging keynote speeches, to believe in the power of education and perseverance by recounting how he successfully pursued the “American Dream” after being uprooted from his native Cuba.
