About Keynote Speaker Coach Mike Brown

Michael Burton Brown is the head coach of the New York Knicks. Brown grew up across the U.S., Japan, and Germany in an Air Force family. He honed his athletic talents at Würzburg American High School before playing college basketball at Mesa Community College and the University of San Diego, where he earned a business degree.

Brown launched his NBA coaching career as an assistant with the Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs, and Indiana Pacers. His first head coaching role came with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2005, where he guided the team to the 2007 NBA Finals and later achieved a league-best 66 wins, earning Coach of the Year honors. After stints with the Lakers and a return to Cleveland, he joined the Golden State Warriors as associate head coach, contributing to multiple championship teams.

In May 2022, Brown was named head coach of the Sacramento Kings. His leadership revitalized the franchise, ending a 17-year playoff drought and earning him a unanimously awarded NBA Coach of the Year title, marking the first time in NBA history a coach received every vote.

In 2025, Brown began a new chapter as head coach of the New York Knicks. Known for his defense-first philosophy, strong player relationships, and playoff success, he is widely respected across the league. Additionally, Brown led Nigeria’s men’s national basketball team from 2020 to 2022, including coaching at the Tokyo Olympics.
