Newton Mayenge is an Award Winning Actor, Entrepreneur and former Professional Basketball Player. He has dual Bachelors of Arts degrees from University of North Carolina, as well as attending law school and grad school for his MBA. He created multiple successful businesses before working on the new 1980’s HBO TV Series called Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, where he plays NBA legend Jim Chones.

PROFESSIONAL OVERVIEW

Newton Mayenge is an award-winning HBO actor, director, executive producer, speaker, future author, and multifaceted entrepreneur whose career spans professional athletics, business leadership, television and film, and the study of clinical psychotherapy and performance psychology.

ENTERTAINMENT & BUSINESS

Newton portrayed NBA legend Jim Chones on the 6x Emmy-nominated HBO series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, sharing the screen with Adrien Brody, Sally Field, John C. Reilly, and Jason Segel. His performance earned him Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the 2022 Hollywood & African Prestigious Awards.

He also executive produced and starred in the feature film The Other Side of Fame, which premiered in Cannes, further expanding his work behind and in front of the camera.

Newton is a series regular in the Prime Video historical drama The Old Stories: Moses, alongside Sir Ben Kingsley and OT Fagbenle. His feature-film work also includes starring roles in the psychological thriller Leave and the holiday feature Christmas with the Kringles, alongside Ron Livingston and Donald Faison.

As a director and educator, Newton has directed more than 300 projects at Jig Reel Studios in Pasadena, California, where he also serves as a scene study instructor. He privately coaches Hollywood actors in audition preparation, scene study, and on-set performance.

His broader professional background includes serving as host of The League Talk Show, sports agent, and owner of an executive security company.

Newton is also the author of an upcoming mindset book scheduled for release in 2027.
