Stan Verrett is an anchor on ESPN and ESPNEWS. A beloved broadcaster for 21 years, Verrett hosts SportsCenter – ESPN’s top rated show. Most of his appearances are on SportsCenter at 11 p.m or 1 a.m. EST, Monday through Friday. He has also hosted studio segments on ESPN’s college basketball and college football telecasts, and has appeared as a sideline reporter, working ArenaBowl XXII.

About: Stan Verrettis an anchor on the ESPN and ESPNEWS. A beloved broadcaster for 21 years, Verrett hosts SportsCenter-ESPN’s top rated show. Most of his appearances are on Sports Center at 11 p.m or 1 a.m.EST, Monday through Friday. He has also hosted studio segments on ESPN’s college basket ball and college football telecasts, and has appeared as a sideline reporter, workingArenaBowl XXII.

Early Life: Verrett was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. His boyhood home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. He is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he was selected as one of the two outstanding graduates in journalism for 1989. He was recognized by Howard in 2020 with the Alumni Award for Distinguished Postgraduate Achievement.

Career: Verrett joined ESPN as an anchor for ESPNEWS in September 2000, and moved to the company’s new Los Angeles Production Facility in March 2009 to co-host the 1 a.m. ET edition of Sports Center with Neil Everett. Prior to ESPN, Verrett worked as a weekend sports anchor and reporter at WDSU-TV, an NBC affiliate, in New Orleans, LA. Verrett’s career includes serving as sports anchor and reporter in Norfolk, VA, at ABC affiliate WVEC-TV and NBC affiliate WAVY-TV. He was also known as “Stan The Man,” a radio DJ on WOWI 103 Jamz in theHampton Roads, VA area. He was a top-rated morning show personality at several radio stations in Washington, D.C., Charleston, S.C., and Norfolk.

Extra: An avid golfer, he lives in the Los Angeles area. Verrett remains a loyal fan of the New Orleans Saints, frequently returning to New Orleans to attend games
