Andrew is a Social Entrepreneur, Eye Surgeon, Professor in Global Health and multi-award-winning business leader and speaker who has been listed as one of the world’s 30 most influential people in public health.
Andrew’s talks blend science and storytelling to challenge business-as-usual thinking. Organizations come away able to identify and pursue purpose and align their movements around a clear vision with practical steps to use in their own circumstances.
Andrew has delivered two main stage TED talks and multiple TEDx talks. His 2014 TED Talk led to global media interest and was the beginning of the early stages of Peek Vision, a social enterprise that provides software and data intelligence to tackle the outrageous issue of over 1 billion people unnecessarily living with sight loss despite treatments being available.
Since 2015, Peek Vision’s end-to-end services (Peek Solutions) have been used in 50 programs worldwide (including Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and India) and reach about ¼ million people each month. And his vision check app, Peek Acuity, has been used in over 190 countries.
Andrew has been featured in many publications, including WIRED and Vogue. In addition, he and his organizations have received awards from TED, Rolex, UBS, Ashoka, the World Economic Forum, and in 2023 Andrew was recognized in the King’s Birthday Honours with an OBE.
Andrew has published over 90 peer-reviewed articles on international eye health and mobile technology in healthcare and co-authored four book chapters. He is currently working on his new book, See.
