Robin Dreeke spent twenty years in FBI counterintelligence recruiting and handling human sources. He led the Bureau’s Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program, where the work was simple to say and hard to do: get someone with every reason to lie to tell you the truth, and build a relationship that held after he left the room.
He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a Marine Corps veteran. Those two rooms — the Academy and the Corps — are where he learned that rank does not create followership. Treatment does.
Today he translates that work for leaders who cannot afford a coin-flip read on the people in front of them. He teaches how to set a baseline, spot Tempo Tells — wobbles in words, behavior, actions, or intent — and use four keys of communication: seek their thoughts and opinions, talk about their priorities and friction points, validate with non-judgmental curiosity, and empower with a choice. The point is not persuasion. The point is to make it safe for someone to be honest before they have a reason to hide.
