We all have an internal dialogue and near constant chatter that goes on inside our minds. For many of us, this voice inside our heads is critical and demanding, leaving us feeling depleted and as though we’re never good enough. However, research shows this critical voice can be tamed and there’s a deep wisdom within each of us that can be accessed when we’re mindful.

This session led by Lisa Abramson will focus on using mindfulness as a tool for noticing the inner judge and then consciously shifting its dialogue to be more compassionate and supportive.

While many of us have a belief that we “need” this inner critical voice to push us to be successful, research shows the opposite is true. Cultivating a strong inner coach actually strengthens willpower and allows us to take greater risks in pursuit of our goals.

You will walk away from this session with a better understanding of the origins of your inner critic, and a deeper connection with your inner coach, as well as tools to shift from critic to coach on demand.

Lisa experienced an incredibly challenging postpartum period, but by hitting rock bottom she was able to kick back to the surface and start seeing things clearly.

With the increasing reliance on social media for “what’s normal,” pregnancy and motherhood can be a judgement minefield and when new moms expectations of motherhood don’t match up to their friends’ polished social media feeds they can find themselves feeling inadequate or worse, like a bad mom. The pressure to do it all, make it look easy, and sacrifice ALL of your “me time,” can leave moms exhausted and depleted.

This intense self sacrificing type of mothering is an especially easy trap for many overachieving and career driven women, having never known how to give anything less than 200%.

By having to face her own shadows, Lisa learned immense and powerful lessons in her recovery that she shares with the audience. From mindfulness, to optimism, to self-compassion and the importance of “me time,” Lisa connects with the modern mom and meets her where she is with practical and actionable insights for well being.

Before completing the online MBA program, I truly believed anxiety, perfectionism and fear of failure were giving me my edge and driving my success. I was a firm believer that hard work and personal sacrifice were prerequisites for achieving my goals. So you can imagine how relieved I was to discover there is an easier way! Lisa and Vanessa have given me the tools and strategies I’ve been searching for to replace negative drivers with positive motivators, without losing my edge. The techniques in the MBA program are backed by science. And Lisa, Vanessa and the MBA graduates are living proof that it is possible to lean in without burning out.

The MBA program helped me realized that no dream is unattainable as long as I take responsibility for my actions and make a commitment to myself. I might not be 100% sure of what my true dreams are but I have a better picture of where I want to get to and how I want to get there and this program was a big part (and still is) of the discovery process.
