As the bottom line increasingly becomes the top priority, every employee in the healthcare industry has felt the added pressure in an already stressful field. With job descriptions changing from week to week and enough paperwork to fell a good-sized forest, there has never been a more stressful time to work in healthcare. Insurance payments are down, support staff is being cut, and job satisfaction is at an all-time low. In fact, the only thing that is up is stress. Be it the antiquated computer systems (or their unwieldy upgrades), the constant job cuts, or the seemingly constant “reviews”, Dr. Iseman has seen it all. But, more importantly, he sees the humor in it. Showing how to use humor to combat stress, Dr. Iseman proves that laughter really is the best medicine

Before Dr. Matt Iseman started dispensing humorous one-liners as a professional comedian, he dispensed medicine as a licensed physician. But five years ago, soon after leaving his job as a doctor, he received a diagnosis that was anything but funny: He had Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since that diagnosis, he has been coping with RA while struggling to become one of the country’s top comedians. In this presentation, Dr. Iseman shares how the sense of humor and positive outlook that fuels his professional endeavors also helps him deal with life as a patient.

About Keynote Speaker Matt Iseman

Matt Iseman’s Key Accomplishments Include . . .
Winner of The New Celebrity Apprentice, Matt knows his business. Matt also hosts American Ninja Warrior, Emmy nominated for Outstanding Reality-Competiton Program.

Although he always loved being the center of attention, Matt Iseman started down a very different road. After graduating with honors from Princeton University and the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he received his MD, he returned home to the University of Colorado for his residency in Internal Medicine. Then, in a move that shocked patients and parents alike, Matt Iseman quit his job as a doctor and moved out to Hollywood to pursue stand up comedy and he never looked back.

Regularly entertaining medical professionals with the skills of a professional comedian and the experience of a medical doctor, Dr. Matt Iseman finds humor in an industry that too often forgets the importance of laughter.

Matt Iseman quickly began headlining clubs across the nation and was selected as one of 10 comedians to perform at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. His world experience did not stop there as he made his first overseas trip to entertain the troops on 9/11 of that same year to perform in South Korea. Since then, Dr. Iseman has bunkered down with the troops sharing his comedy in Kosovo, Bosnia, Croatia, Germany, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Around that time, Matt Iseman also started appearing in commercials for Pontiac, Dodge, JC Penney, PlayStation, Bank of America, Off! and Lamasil. He fulfilled a life long dream to be a superhero when he was featured in a campaign for Net10 as “Captain Obvious.” No, he didn’t get to keep the suit. And, no, you can’t visit the Fortress of Obvioustude.

You may also recognize Matt Iseman’s voice from campaigns for Six Flags, Land Rover and as the voice of DirecTV for three years. He also voiced his first video game, Command & Conquer 3, which thrills Matt as he can finally write-off playing video games as business.

Matt Iseman’s lifelong passions of sports and laughing have come together as he hosts Sports Soup on the Versus sports channel. He gives thanks to Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, Manny Ramirez and all the other athletes who make his job easy. Matt’s also glad that he has a job where he gets Olympic Gymnasts to visit him at work.

More About Matt Iseman . . .
Matt Iseman also made his movie debut in TransLicenseds 2, which pretty much meant that Matt’s childhood dreams about playing with Robots came true while being directed by Mike Bay (he told Matt Iseman to call him that).

Matt Iseman has also made appearances on The Drew Carey Show, NCIS, Courting Alex and had a recurring role on General Hospital (No, he did not play a doctor). He’s appeared on Premium Blend on Comedy Central, Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen and he’s a regular panelist on RedEye. Matt Iseman’s CD, I Want a Happy Ending, has become an iTunes sensation and you can also hear his comedy on XM/Sirius and countless radio stations around the nation.

His ongoing battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis transformed him into a strong supporter of the Arthritis Foundation, the charity he’s representing this coming season on Celebrity Apprentice. Yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger considers him a celebrity.

Matt Iseman is the perfect speaker to show your staff how to use humor to combat stress and prove that laughter really is the best medicine.

“…Dr. Iseman’s presentation was a delightful surprise that truly rejuvenated and motivated the conference participants, who are still talking about his performance. Not only was he hilarious, but he also related his personal experience with Rheumatoid Arthritis to the importance of our work at the Arthritis Foundation. We were entertained, inspired, and motivated. He is a delightful person that we felt we had known forever.”

“His humor was smart, funny and fit the audience. I think he connected in a way no one else could because he is a medical doctor and could speak their language. I would highly recommend him for business or medical events.”
