In 2019, as Program Director for Innovation, Strategy and Design at Singularity University, Sally integrated Adventurous Thinking as Singularity’s 10X mindset strategy to level up human ingenuity as a response to exponential change. In addition Sally spearheaded futurist research for Singularity centred on 2030 and key trends and developments in 10X technologies and the expected human responses to them. Sally’s research focuses on new developments in trust, resilience, leadership, education and sustainability. Sally continues to customize exponential thinking innovation workshops and keynotes for businesses and institutions worldwide.
As an thought leader and educator Sally has updated Design Thinking with her ADVENTUROUS THINKING methodology, designed to promote the agile mindset needed for consistently innovative practices. The key difference is in timing: unlike Design thinking which is reactive ADVENTUROUS THINKING is a proactive, disruptive strategy based on the theory of multiple intelligences. The Five Lens tools are used to alternately converge and proliferate thinking, enabling users to think outside their default “expert” neural pathways, and re-igniting the curious mindset that is the key to consistent innovation. ADVENTUROUS THINKING and Sally’s associated research has been used internationally through Singularity University and Start-se, and by the Shenzhen government, Genentech, Sandisk, Clif Bar and other corporates and was presented as part of the SXSW Frugal Innovation panel. Sally has taught ADVENTUROUS THINKING as a means to integrate innovation into the Australian school curriculum for the Association of Independent Schools and the Catholic Schools Office.
