About Keynote Speaker Karina Hollekim

Karina Hollekim is Co-Founder of Young Happy Minds, a performance consultant and a mentor. For over ten years she was a professional athlete for Red Bull, until one very ordinary day in 2006 when everything changed. One moment Karina was looking forward to another adventurous day at work – seconds later the parachute twisted. In free fall, she slammed into a rock and broke both legs. For several days she hovered between life and death, but miraculously survived. This was the start of her long journey back to being able to walk again. It has required many operations, hard and not least long training sessions and absolutely enormous willpower. Today she can walk, ski and climb. Her experiences of how she learned to walk again can be heard in her incredibly educational lecture.

Karina is passionate about inspiring others. As a performance consultant, she has motivated everything from athletes and top managers to small and large companies all over Norway. She is known for her incredible ability to make people see challenges in a completely different way. As co-founder of YHM, she trains both companies and individuals in positive psychology, with techniques that can help us become robust, happy individuals who perform and function well in interaction with others.

Karina has also received a lot of international attention for her inspiring story. From the parachute accident to being able to walk again. In 2008, a film was made about her life “20 seconds of joy”. This was a film that was well received internationally and won a number of awards. Karina has also written the autobiography “The wonderful feeling of fear” which has also been published in several countries.
